Mother and Child Hospital Partners with Ruphasoft, a DHA-Certified Health Information System, to Deliver Smarter, Safer Care
At Mother and Child Hospital, caring for families has always meant more than excellent clinical work. It also means making sure every record, prescription, lab result and claim is handled accurately, securely and efficiently. That is why we are proud to announce our partnership with Ruphasoft, a health management information system certified by Kenya’s Digital Health Agency (DHA).
Why DHA certification matters
Under the Digital Health Act of 2023, DHA certification is a legal requirement for digital health systems in Kenya, including electronic medical records, hospital information systems, laboratory and pharmacy platforms. A system without certification cannot connect to the national health service bus, integrate with the Social Health Authority (SHA) for claims, or take part in national health records.
To earn certification, a system is assessed across four equally weighted domains:
- Functionality: does the system support real clinical and administrative workflows?
- Reporting and public health alerts: can it generate accurate reports and support national surveillance?
- Security, privacy and confidentiality: is patient data properly protected?
- Information exchange and interoperability: can it communicate reliably with other systems?
Full certification is valid for two years, and conditional certification for one, so certified vendors must keep meeting the standard over time.
What this means for our patients
Choosing a certified platform means that the system behind your care meets national standards for privacy and data protection. It also means smoother SHA claims processing, fewer delays at billing, and records that can follow you securely wherever you seek care.
Integration and adaptability
One of the strengths that drew us to Ruphasoft is how well it connects with other hospital systems and adapts to the way we work. Healthcare does not run on a single department or tool. Reception, the clinic, the laboratory, the pharmacy, radiology and billing all need to share information in real time. Ruphasoft’s integration capabilities let these units work as one connected team, reducing duplicate data entry, cutting down on errors, and giving our clinicians the full picture when they need it.
Just as importantly, the system adapts as we grow. As national requirements evolve and our services expand, we can adjust our workflows without disrupting care.
A forward-looking commitment
Kenya’s health sector is moving decisively toward digital, interoperable and accountable care. By partnering with a certified provider early, Mother and Child Hospital is positioning itself at the front of that shift, ready for national integration and committed to protecting the information families entrust to us.
“Our mothers and children deserve care that is not only compassionate but also modern, secure and connected,” said Chris Ndirangu, head of IT. “This partnership reflects that promise.”
