A Day of Learning, Respect, and Community
Alhamdulillah. Some days shift how people see each other. This Open Day at the mosque did exactly that.
Mother and Child Hospital was honored to attend by invitation. We did not come to treat or run clinics. We came to listen, learn, and stand with the community during a day focused on understanding Islam.
From the start, the atmosphere was welcoming. People walked in with curiosity. Families moved through the mosque, guided by hosts who took time to explain each space and its meaning. You could see conversations forming naturally. Questions were asked. Answers were given with patience and clarity.
Many guests were visiting a mosque for the first time. They wanted to understand daily practices, values, and what Islam teaches about community, compassion, and discipline. The hosts broke this down in simple ways. No pressure. No assumptions. Just open dialogue.
What stood out was how intentional the day felt. This was not a formal event with distance between people. It was close, human, and direct. People sat together, shared meals, and spoke freely. That kind of setting builds trust faster than any speech.
Our team moved through the spaces like everyone else. We listened to the guided explanations. We observed the interactions. We engaged in conversations where invited. The experience gave insight into how faith shapes daily life for many of the families we serve.
For us, this matters. At Mother and Child Hospital, we serve a diverse community. Understanding culture and faith helps us serve better. It improves communication. It builds respect. It strengthens the relationship between provider and patient.
Events like this remove assumptions. They replace distance with familiarity. When people understand each other, fear reduces. Respect grows. That has a direct impact on how communities live and support each other.
We also saw strong collaboration. The presence of National Counter Terrorism Centre Kenya reflected a shared commitment to unity and awareness. Different groups showed up with one goal. To support a peaceful, informed community.
The turnout was strong. The energy stayed steady throughout the day. Conversations did not feel forced. They felt needed. That is a sign of impact.
We thank the mosque leadership for opening their doors and creating space for honest engagement. We thank every person who took time to attend, ask questions, and listen.
For Mother and Child Hospital, this was an important reminder. Care goes beyond treatment. It includes understanding the people you serve. It includes showing up in spaces that matter to them.
We will keep supporting initiatives that bring communities together. We will keep learning. We will keep building trust.
If you were there, we appreciate the time you shared with us. If you missed it, we look forward to the next opportunity to connect.
