Matron Florence on Muuga FM: Labour Talk, Love, and What to Pack!
This past week, our beloved Matron Florence Karimi Kiriamiti,a cornerstone at Mother and Child Hospital with over 20 years of dedicated service at Mother and Child hospital and 50+ years in the profession, joined Muuga FM for a warm, insightful conversation on labour and childbirth.
Speaking with heart and clarity, she broke down what labour really is and shared practical advice every expectant mother needs. Her key message? Labour is powerful, natural, and easier when you’re informed and prepared.
So, What is Labour?
Labour is your body’s process of bringing your baby into the world. It includes:
- Contractions – your uterus tightens to open the cervix
- Dilation – your cervix opens from 0 to 10 cm
- Pushing – your baby is born
- Afterbirth – you deliver the placenta
Each woman’s labour journey is unique, but knowing what to expect can help ease fear and boost confidence.
Expect This in the Labour Room:
- Stronger, regular contractions
- Emotional highs and lows
- Monitoring by our skilled maternity team
- Supportive care and reassurance throughout
Matron Florence reminded listeners that preparation is peace.
