MCH Participates in CME on Oncology and Cardiac Surgery: Reaffirming Commitment to Continuous Learning and Quality Care
At Mother and Child Hospital, our commitment to providing excellent, up-to-date care goes beyond day-to-day service. It is rooted in a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and collaborative exchange.
This was recently demonstrated through our participation in a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session hosted at Best Western Plus Meridian Hotel, Moi Avenue, organized by Max Health India in partnership with Afya Connection Kenya.
Bringing Together Healthcare Leaders
The CME brought together medical professionals from various institutions including Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Kenyatta University Hospital (KUH), RFH Healthcare, Equator Hospital (ENH), and Quiver Hospital, among others.
The theme of the day was:
“Recent Advances in Medical Oncology and Surgical Management of End-Stage Heart Failure.”

Expert-Led Insights
Attendees were privileged to engage with two internationally recognized facilitators:
-
Dr. Gupta, Medical Oncologist
-
Dr. Sandeep, Cardiologist and Cardiac Surgeon
They shared the latest protocols and trends in cancer treatment and surgical solutions for end-stage heart failure. From novel chemotherapy regimens to emerging heart transplant strategies, the facilitators provided insights that were not only clinically relevant but also practical for adaptation within the Kenyan healthcare context.
Why CMEs Matter
Continuing Medical Education (CME) is more than just a requirement for practicing professionals , it is a lifeline for quality in healthcare. Here’s why:
-
Medical knowledge evolves constantly. Diseases mutate, technologies change, and new evidence emerges. CMEs help healthcare workers keep pace.
-
Improved decision-making. With better knowledge comes better clinical judgment, diagnostic accuracy, and treatment outcomes.
-
Enhanced patient safety. CME sessions emphasize current best practices, minimizing risk and promoting evidence-based care.
-
Peer collaboration. CMEs provide a space for healthcare professionals to engage, ask questions, share local experiences, and build stronger referral and support networks.
-
Ethical growth. Healthcare is not only technical. CMEs nurture professional responsibility, accountability, and compassion.
At Mother and Child Hospital, we recognize that quality healthcare is not static. It must be nurtured by curiosity, openness to learning, and partnerships that go beyond borders.

Applying Knowledge to Improve Lives
Our participation in this CME was not just symbolic. It is part of a broader strategy to continually expose our teams to cutting-edge knowledge, new surgical and medical protocols, and global trends that can be applied here at home.
Whether it’s managing a high-risk cancer patient or addressing a complex cardiac case, our goal is to ensure that every patient receives care informed by the latest science and guided by compassion.
Moving Forward
We thank Max Health India and Afya Connection Kenya for creating this platform for knowledge sharing and for their commitment to healthcare transformation in Kenya.
As Mother and Child Hospital continues to grow, so does our investment in clinical excellence, staff development, and service quality. Attending CMEs is just one of the ways we stay committed to better care for every mother, every child, and every family we serve.
